The General Notes will appear at the beginning of each design. The notes will list masonry, mortar, and grout materials; reinforcement and accessories which are readily and commercially available in the state of Michigan. Reference is made where appropriate to the applicable American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.

The Guidelines will appear adjacent to the General Notes. The Guidelines will serve as an explanation for the General Notes. The Guidelines represent the committee's consensus opinions based on previous experiences and the performance of related masonry systems.
