2004 MIM Scholarship Recipients

At the Annual Golf Outing at Dunham Hills Golf Course, Hartland, the MIM Scholarship Foundation presented four oustanding architectural students with $1,500 each towards furthering their education.

To date, the MIM has granted 130 scholarships. Congratulations to this year's recipients!

JR Snyder Scholarship
Sponsored by the Michigan Mason Contractors Association (MMCA)

The first scholarship was awarded in 1977 in honor of MIM's founding father, JR Snyder. His many accomplishments have left a lasting imprint on the masonry industry. In 1998, the veteran mason contractor was bestowed an honorary memebership to the MIM.

Laurie Patricia Hughet
A resident of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Laurie is a senior at The University of Michigan, A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Robert F. Ebeling Scholarship
In 1978, a scholarship was awarded in honor of Robert F. Ebeling, who has given the masonry industry over a quarter century of dedicated service. he served on national, state and local masonry associations. He was bestowed an honorary membership to the MIM in 1998.

John Mark Ovies
A resident of Berrien Springs, Michigan, John is a junior at Andrews University, Division of Architecture.

Michael Nevatta Scholarship
Sponsored by the Mason Contractor's Association (MCA)

In 1995, a scholarship was awarded in honor of Michael Nevatta who played a prominent role in shaping the MIM's philosophy. He served as chairman of the board, president and executive director. In 1996, Nevatta was bestowed an honorary membership.

Robert E. Ferguson
A resident of Madison Heights, Michigan, Robert is a first year graduate of Lawrence Technological University, College of Architecture and Design.

David McGarth Scholarship
Sponsored by the Michigan Masonry Association (MMA)

In 1997, a scholarship was awarded in honor of David McGrath. After earning an architectural degree from Lawrence Technological University in 1984, McGrath served as staff architect for the MIM and consulting architect for the MMA.

A resident of Decauter, Illinois, Jennifer is a junior at Lawrence Technological University, College of Architecture and Design.
